Thank you for your recent query regarding the status of pool safety and building certificates. The following information has been approved by the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC), Manager, Plumbing and Pools Investigations Unit:
Currently the only way to access the PDF of a site’s current pool safety certificate is via a manual search of the pools register.
It is not possible to obtain a PDF of the building certificate. Building certificates (forms 17 and 11) are lodged with local government and building certifiers are only required to provide the QBCC with ‘details’ for entry by QBCC into the pools register. Building certifiers currently provide those details to QBCC by way of a copy of the form 17 or 11, however the QBCC does not publish the copy of the form.
There are datasets available at the Open Data Portal with bulk information about the status of sites with active building certificates and pool safety certificates, but it doesn’t provide the certificate PDFs. Those datasets are updated monthly. Perhaps the dataset could be used to bulk-identify which sites have a pool safety certificate, which could then be accessed through a manual search.
This information is provided by the team responsible for the daily administration of the pools register. If a more technical response is required, please advise, however further clarification of the question would be required.
If you require further information please contact QBCC directly via the contact details on their website (www.qbcc.qld.gov.au).
