Litter Offences by Council Region - Queensland Government Open Data - Data Request

Thank you for your query about littering data from the Litter and Illegal Dumping Online Reporting System (LIDORS).

We do not consider that LIDORS can provide litter data that can be extrapolated, or usefully compared against your own litter counts. LIDORS data is limited in nature, as it only represents willingness of members of the public to report, rather than the actual occurrence of litter. Also, the data only relates to incidents of littering from vehicles, which is only one type of littering behaviour.

The data that would align with your goal is data from the regular litter counts conducted by the Queensland government. This data is published in the State of Environment Report which provides summaries, and downloadable data, for a range of environmental topics in Queensland and can be accessed at https://www.stateoftheenvironment.des.qld.gov.au/about. The section on litter includes indicators relevant to your analysis such as trends over time of the volume of litter, type of area littered, and types of material littered.
