We are creating a smartphone app to improve the ease with which people can locate information about features of communities that are accessible for people with disability & others.
We are also contacting many Qld Councils about access to their datasets. As expected, there is little data easily able to be harvested using an API for the smartphone app at the moment, but in many of the conversations, there is interest amongst councils about how to create the data in a manner that is useful for our purposes but also useful to others.. We would like to discuss with someone from the Qld Govt about how we could encourage interested councils to store their data (& update the data) on data.qld.gov.au rather than simply sending us a static file. Aggregation of datasets at state level is obviously not an easy thing to achieve, but we would like to have a discussion about how we can demonstrate a process to Local Governments when we are connecting with them in the coming months
