Check In Qld app data!

The Check In Qld app permits individuals to register their presence at Queensland locations as required by the Queensland Government Chief  Health Officer’s public health directions.  The app is provided by the Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy and Queensland Health as part of the Queensland Government’s response to a declared public health emergency (COVID-19) under the Public Health Act 2005 (Qld).

Two open datasets have been released showing statistics on app usage and geographical coverage across Queensland.  These are:

Check In Qld app - Customer Check-ins

This dataset contains anonymised aggregated statistical information for check-ins by location, per day.  Data has been aggregated to include the total persons checked-in per day by Statistical Area Level 3 (SA3).

Analysis and visualisation of this data can provide app usage insights, an example of which is provided below.

This graph shows the total number of people checked-in by date.  The time period visualised was from 28 February 2021 to 30 April 2022.


Check In Qld app - Registered Locations

This dataset contains anonymised aggregated statistical information for the number of registered locations by statistical area, per day.  Data has been aggregated to include the total number of approved check-in locations registered, per day by Statistical Area Level 3 (SA3).

Analysis and visualisation of this data can provide app usage insights, an example of which is provided below.

This map of Queensland shows the number of check-in locations registered for use in the Check In Qld app.  SA3 area’s are shaded from light to dark depending on the number of approved locations for that area.  The time period visualised was from 28 February 2021 to 30 April 2022.
