This index covers Series S12035, Registers of Demands - Crown Lands Office / Chief Commissioner of Crown Lands, 1848-1870 and Series S12034, Registers of Demands - Crown Lands Office / Chief Commissioner of Crown Lands, 1852-1914. The Registers of demands document claims made for leases to pastoral runs in the various Pastoral Districts of Queensland from mainly during the 1850s and 1860s.

Information recorded includes gazettal number for the Lease (in lieu of a Lease number); names of Claimants, Transferees and Lessees, Name of Property (Run), notes on rents, lease renewals, re-tenders, forfeitures, and resumptions into reserves (e.g. Railway reserves).

Dating across the registers in inconsistent. Date/Year recorded in the index is derived from the date published in the gazette or date of lease or date notified depending on which date was recorded; some dates are estimated from the remarks column in lieu of any other information recorded or from the letter references for Lessees and Transferees e.g. 1850 is derived from letter reference 50/3559. The Index dates reflect the first date of the Lease or Gazettal publication; subsequent dates for transfers of leases have not been included.

Accepted tenders for Runs in the Colony of Queensland were published in the gazettes and newspapers of the era which can be searched through TROVE.
