Index for Queensland Block Indentification Series, 1 to 1 000 000 Million scale - Printed 1990 Mapping Information Bulletin 5 - Block Identification System. The Block Identification System is a geographic grid pattern using the basic unit (a BLOCK) of 5 minutes of latitude by 5 minutes of longitude. The sub-unit (a SUB-BLOCK) is 1 minute of latitude by 1 minute of longitude. The Block Identification System is the approved reference system for Exploration Titles (Authorities to Prospect) enacted in 1967. An application for an Authority to Prospect must be described by the Block Identification System.
