The Geological Survey of Queensland (GSQ) is undertaking a program of systematic characterisation of key mineral systems and deposit types across Queensland. Program aims to:

  • Acquire continuous drill cores and multiple individual samples representative of mineralisation, alteration and host rock types within and around significant deposits of various geological types across the state
  • Undertake consistent acquisition of geological data on the representative drill cores and samples at different scales, including continuous hyperspectral (HyLogger) and XRF scanning, multi-element geochemistry, isotope and mineral geochemistry
  • Establish a systematic multi-property reference collection of mineralogical and geochemical data characterising mineralisation and alteration footprints associated with key mineral deposit types
  • Characterise critical mineral endowment of mineral deposits in Queensland
