SPHALERITE REPORT FOR THE GEOLOGICAL SURVEY OF QUEENSLAND

URL: https://geoscience.data.qld.gov.au/dataset/cr148692

Sphalerite, a zinc sulfide mineral, is the primary zinc source globally and contains various elements, including critical metals. To understand how these elements relate to ore formation, this study analysed sphalerite from multiple Queensland deposits. Samples were provided by the Geological Survey of Queensland and analysed at the Australian National University. Element concentrations were determined using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Laser Ablation – Inductively Coupled Plasma – Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS). This report presents data for elements including manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, gallium, germanium, arsenic, silver, cadmium, indium, tin, antimony, thallium, bismuth, and lead.
