ATP564 GLENCORE QUEENSLAND LIMITED - MOURA 12 WELL ABANDONMENT REPORT

The Meridian Project was explored by various operators such as Mount Isa Mining (MIM Holdings Ltd.) in the early 1990s then Conoco in the mid-1990s. This well was drilled by Rockdril Rig 23 as part of a three-well pilot project to obtain methane production from vertical cased and fracture stimulated wells.

This well was fracture simulated (frac'ed). Hydraulic fracture stimulation is a process by which sand and water are pumped into the coal (or indeed any low permeability reservoir in conventional oil and gas operations) under high pressure with the aim of inducing fractures thereby improving the reservoir access and allowing gas to flow at a greater rate. The injected sand is used as a proppant to prevent the fractures from closing again and thereby establishing a high-permeability pathway.

The well produced at low rates for two years and was then suspended.

The well was plugged and abandoned in November 2020. Hilands Well Services was engaged to complete the P&A of the well between 11 to 23 November 2020.
