EPC952 MOUNT COXENDEAN PARTIAL RELINQUISHMENT REPORT FOR PERIOD ENDING 20 APRIL 2024

URL: https://geoscience.data.qld.gov.au/dataset/cr147950

EPC 952 was granted on 21 April 2005 and lies in the central part of the Bowen Basin about 40 km southeast of Moranbah.

The tenement overlies the centre of the informally named Coxendean Sub-Basin, a sub-structure of the Nebo Synclinorium.

The target formation is the Rangal Coal Measures.

Exploration to date includes the drilling of 34 holes for 10,636 metres, down-hole geophysical logging, coal quality testing, environmental studies and resource geological modelling.

No economic coal was intersected and 32 of the 34 holes drilled were located on ground previously relinquished.

The six sub-blocks to be relinquished were originally to come from EPC1146 which has a partial relinquishment requirement this year.

But as all the Fitzroy Exploration Permits for Coal (EPCs) are combined into one project EPC675, EPC667, EPC719, EPC722, EPC858, EPC951, EPC952, EPC1036, EPC1052, and EPC1146 (the Pioneer Project), it was decided to take the six sub-blocks from less prospective ground on EPC952.

No exploration was undertaken on the relinquished areas.
