The Wallumbilla LPG Facility (Facility) was constructed in 1984 and operated thereafter by Santos. AGL Gas Storage Pty Ltd (AGL) purchased the Facility from Santos in April 2011. The Facility has historically produced sales quality natural gas, propane, butane and condensate. Soon after the sale was completed, AGL mothballed the Facility by ceasing gas processing and reducing operational requirements to a low level of caretaker maintenance. AGL proposes to re-start the Facility as an integral component to support the withdrawal phase of the Silver Springs Underground Gas Storage Project to process the gas removing the propane, butane and condensate in order to provide sales quality gas to the market. On the 23rd May 2014, AGL Gas Storage Pty Ltd was granted Petroleum Facility Licence 27 (PFL 27) approving the operation of the Wallumbilla LPG Facility.
