The Fletchers Awl project consists of a single Exploration Permit for Minerals (EPM) 27423 which covers an area of approximately 126 sq km. The permit is located in the Central Queensland Highlands, 40km northeast of the regional town of Clermont and 200km west of Rockhampton.
EPM 27423 was granted on 28 January 2020 to Longreach No 1 Pty Ltd (Longreach). On 14 November 2022 the Permit was fully surrendered. This document is the Final Report containing a summary of the results of exploration during the whole term of the permit.
The following work program was completed:
The Year 1 - developing the necessary geological understanding and acquisition of a high resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric data covering the permit area and surrounds.
The Year 2 - interpretation of the airborne data to develop a detailed geological model and generate potential copper-gold and REE targets (refer to CEI0220 Round 4) and geochemical sampling program (CEI0331 Round 5)
The Year 3 – Lab analysis and interpretation of geochemical samples. The REE compositions sampled in EPM 27423 are anomalous, however they are not economic in their TREO concentrations and therefore it was recommended to discontinue exploration work at EPM 27423.
