A Gravity survey at 400m spaced stations was carried out by Endocoal in 2011 as an aid to see through the tertiary cover and identify potentially thicker sedimentary units. The stratigraphic/Volcanic basement boundary shown in green excludes the northeastern corner from coal bearing potential and the yellow/red areas express thinner sediments unlikely to contain any of the Blackwater Group units. There is potential for the gravity lows to contain some part of the Fort Cooper and even Rangal Coal Measures of the Blackwater Group - both coal bearing units of economic value in the region.
