This is the second annual report for EPM 27059 Tewinga 2 since the tenement was granted to Rio Tinto Exploration (RTX). This annual report summarises exploration activities carried out on EPM 27059 Tewinga 2 by RTX for the reporting period of 14th May 2020 to 13th May 2021.
EPM 27059 Tewinga 2 is a two sub-block licence situated in the Eastern Succession of the Mt Isa Inlier, and is located approximately 130 km NNE of Cloncurry. EPM 27059 Tewinga 2 tenement lies adjacent to EPM 27043 Tewinga 1 tenement (also held by RTX) that covers a known copper occurrence (Tewinga) where previous drilling by Matrix Metals Limited in 1994 showed a maximum result of 20m @ 0.77% Cu in drill hole TRC09. The copper is associated with carbonaceous shales and is interpreted to be in a similar stratigraphic location and style as the nearby Mt Watson deposit. However, based on the 1995 Surprise Creek JV GEOTEM survey flown by BHP over EPM 27043 Tewinga 1 tenement, drill holes did not test the EM conductor underlying the alluvials to the SW of the Tewinga copper target. In addition, a number of untested (deeper) EM anomalies occur in the adjacent EPM 27059 Tewinga 2.
An AEM survey was completed over a section of EPM 27059 Tewinga 2 tenement but due to equipment problems, the survey was not able to be fully completed over the tenement. Field mapping and a pXRF soil survey was also planned over the Tewinga 2 tenement but due to land access issues, no groundwork was able to be completed during this reporting period. Engagement with stakeholders is ongoing.
