Yellowbank 9 was drilled within the 100% Denison Gas operated PL43 located within the Denison Trough sub-basin of the greater Bowen Basin in southeast Queensland. Yellowbank 9 was drilled as a gas appraisal well, designed to evaluate the Staircase Sandstone which demonstrated moveable hydrocarbons at sub-commercial rates on DST at the nearby Yellowbank 6 well. The well was interpreted to have successfully appraised gas within the Staircase Sandstone target interval. Evaluation incorporated good mud gas shows of up to 759/250 units observed upon drilling consistent with the offset Yellowbank 6 well where DST#3 recovered GTS and petrophysical interpretation of the logs indicated 23.01m net gas pay over an 89.35m gross interval. 5 ½” production was set at 1538.2mRT and cemented back to surface. The well was suspended as a gas well and the rig released on the 15th October 2020 pending fracture stimulation and completion at a later date.
