EPM 26252, Cape York Project, Final report for the period ending 18/12/2020

URL: https://geoscience.data.qld.gov.au/dataset/cr122474

Work included a full literature review, compilation of a geophysical and geoscientific GIS dataset, preliminary target generation, field-reconnaissance, and geochemical sampling. Up to 40 individual pegmatite dykes up to 80 m in width were encountered within a structural corridor 2.5km wide and up to 7.5 km in length where anomalous lithium values were obtained despite extremely poor outcrop exposure. Recent work has confirmed a very large pegmatite dyke system striking in a N/S corridor at least 2.5 kw wide extending for at least 7.5km in strike. Zoned pegmatites with central quartz cores outcrop on occasion along strike suggesting the cover to be thin.
