This report details work carried out on the 40 sub-blocks relinquished from EPM18463 on 16th November 2020. The Company considers these sub-blocks non-prospective or marginally prospective for low grade bauxite associated with laterites and red soil profiles on the Atherton Basalt Volcanic Province (the best bauxite grade being 29.2% avail Al2O3, Rx SiO2 5.9% from the 37 relinquished holes).
This relinquishment follows earlier relinquishment of 37 sub-blocks during 2015, and 13 sub-blocks during 2018, bringing the current relinquished total to 90.
Queensland Bauxite Limited’s South Johnstone Project is located within the Company’s Exploration Permit 18463, which originally covered an area of 400 square kilometres, near the town of Innisfail in north Queensland.
Regional geological investigations leading up to the relinquishment consisted of the following programs:
1. Regional road-verge hand auger program within EPM18463 making new bauxite discoveries and delineating non-bauxitic areas for relinquishment.
2. Detailed assessment of the likelihood of discovering bauxite within each sub-block within EPM18463 and the likelihood of being able to economically mine that bauxite.
