The Mount Chalmers deposit is a well-preserved, volcanic-hosted massive-sulphide mineralised system containing zinc, copper, lead, gold and silver.
The deposit was mined by Mount Morgan Limited between 1979 and March 1982; then closed because of low commodity prices.
The remaining resources are Indicated and Inferred; 3.6 million tonnes grading 0.8 g/t gold, 1.2% copper and 8g/t silver, containing 96,000 ounces gold, 44,000 tonnes copper and 924,000 ounces of silver. This Mineral
Resource statement was reported in accordance with an earlier version of the JORC Code (2004) and is not reported in accordance with the current JORC Code (2012).
TMI views the Mount Chalmers Project partly as a “brownfield” opportunity, with the potential to rapidly expand resources at the Mount Chalmers mine and to explore for further deposits of similar style. Stacked lenses of mineralisation and clusters of shoots are characteristic of this style of deposit. There are more than 12 anomalous target areas to be assessed within a10km radius of the Mount Chalmers mine. TMI has also identified several gold- anomalous zones within the New Zealand Gully goldfield, which with further work could provide good drill targets
